As Five Oaks Museum enters our third year, we are making changes to improve the guest curator program experience.

The museum has become known for our approach of putting exhibitions in the hands of community members as guest curator. Every guest curator has crafted an ambitious, in-depth, and very necessary exhibition, taking an idea from concept, through research, onto writing and art wrangling, all the way to completion and opening day. We are amazed at what each of our guest curators has accomplished and honored that they have trusted us to guide their (often) first-ever curation experience. We are so proud of how the guest curator program has grown.

As the program has grown, we have seen a growing need to retool the process to be more equitable and generous to the guest curators who bring our exhibitions to life. For that reason, we will not be holding an open call for the 2022 exhibition cycle. We are looking forward to sharing more about our upcoming 2022 exhibitions in the months to come.
