DREAMs Deferred Live

Five Oaks Museum partners with The Immigrant Story to present this live storytelling and music event.

In partnership with Five Oaks Museum and Students United for Nonviolence at Portland State University, The Immigrant Story presents “DREAMs Deferred Live.” You are invited to hear five compelling stories told — and lived — by members of the local Latinx immigrant community who made arduous and dangerous journeys across the border to the United States.

POSTPONED: NEW DATE PENDING Saturday, April 11, 2020, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Recital Hall at Portland State University, 1620 SW Park Avenue.

“DREAMs Deferred Live” kicks off with a musical performance featuring Gerardo Calderon and his ensemble, combining vocals, instrumentals, and rhythms of folk musical traditions of Mexico and Central America. After a 15-minute intermission, the five storytellers — also from Mexico and Central America — will share unique stories about their lives as immigrants.

This free event is made possible by the generous contribution of the Zidell Family Foundation. Seating is limited to 220. Doors open at 6:15 p.m for PSU students with a valid ID and 6:30 p.m. for the general public.
