What is a wendigo?

The wendigo is a legendary creature originating with Algonquin-speaking peoples. Perpetually gluttonous, the wendigo is insatiable and always starving to eat humans. It is associated with winter and famine, taboos against cannibalism, and metaphor for destructive individuals or colonialism.
