Derrick Lawvor (Modoc) transforms a classic “Western” object into an genre-bending sculpture; is it a summer fruit, a PNW staple fish, or an otherworldly device? Derrick lives in Beaverton, Oregon, where he works as a Trimet mechanic. He is a Modoc descendant and member of the Klamath Tribes, located in Southern Oregon. Derrick states that his parents would not approve of his artwork because it is not traditional, so it is meaningful to him to have his work displayed in the museum.
