Creating Gender Euphoria Brunch Conversation

With Guest Curator Becca Owen and Molly Alloy, Co-Director of Five Oaks Museum

Becca Owen (they/them), the guest curator of Gender Euphoria, and Molly Alloy (they/them), Co-Director of Five Oaks Museum, discussed the process of curating and creating Gender Euphoria, contemporary art by trans and genderqueer artists in the exhibition and beyond, their experiences as trans arts and cultural workers, and more.

Becca Owen (they/them) is the Five Oaks Museum Summer 2020 Guest Curator. Becca is a genderqueer, non-binary art historian, curator, and arts administrator. They hold a BA in art history and queer studies from Sarah Lawrence College. Their past experience includes working as the Head Curator of the Open Show at the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, a Visitor Services Lead at the Portland Art Museum, and an Engagement Fellow at the Museum of Art and Design in New York.

 

Molly Alloy (they/them) is a Co-Director at Five Oaks Museum and a multi-disciplinary artist and curator living and working in Portland, OR. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art from Skidmore College and a Master of Fine Art from Pacific Northwest College of Art. Alloy was a founding member of the queer curatorial project First Brick and has lead Five Oaks Museum through the establishment of values-driven institutional practices and community-centered exhibitions.
